Calling All Prospective Heavy Vehicle Drivers! ARMSTRONGS WANTS YOU! (Well Not All of You…)

  • Post category:News

If you’re thinking about getting your heavy vehicle licence in the near future then Armstrongs WANTS YOU! Well, not all of you to be precise.

We get our fair share of phone calls from people who have obviously done a bit of research on the web, gathered up some prices and course lengths, and then decide to give Armstrongs a call and try an engage us in something that could only be described as attempt at horse trading where they try to get us to beat a competitors price or shorten our course for them. Sure, we get it.  Everyone wants the best ‘deal’ they can get.

There appears to be two types of prospective client out there:

– those that equate the ‘best deal’ strictly as ‘paying the least amount of money and doing the least amount of training’, and

– those that equate the ‘best deal’ with ‘value’.

So, to clarify the opening line of this blog, when we say “WE WANT YOU!” we really mean “we want those who share our training values when it comes to getting a heavy vehicle license”.

How do you know if you and Armstrongs are kindred spirits? It’s not hard, trust us, it’s as plain as the gold bulldog on the hood of the Sultan’s new Mack Prime Mover.  It’s probably easier to reverse it – the following is how you know you’re NOT the right fit for an Armstrongs heavy vehicle course?

  1. You ring up and insist we ‘price beat’ a competitors offering in order to win your business
  2. You ring us up and insist that we ‘beat the time’ it takes at a competitor to win your business
  3. You ring us up and tell us that you don’t have any spare time so we’ll have to make it ‘quick’
  4. You ring us up, confused, and wondering why learning to drive a 25 tonne vehicle with at least 9 more gears than your auto commodore has should take so long
  5. You look at our website and your totally fixated on the price rather than what you get for that price
  6. Your generally late to everything
  7. It’s always someone’s else fault
  8. You reckon ‘near enough’ is ‘good enough’
  9. You don’t like being challenged to be the best you can
  10. You don’t actually care about becoming a safe and competent driver. You ‘just need your licence’
  11. You don’t actually care…about much really.

If you read through that list and find yourself (honestly) thinking “Yep, that’s me…” well, Armstrongs is probably not the right heavy vehicle training organisation for you. We’re not saying you shouldn’t be a driver, we’re just saying you should probably go somewhere else.  Trust us – there are plenty of heavy vehicle training providers out there who will gladly take your money.

Armstrongs is looking for clients who want to be the best drivers THEY can be.  We know that everyone has it in to become a really good driver. We love students who are committed to their training – because we are committed to them.   If that’s you then great, give us a call because Armstrongs and you are the right fit.  But it’s OK if it’s not…

If you and Armstrongs are the right fit, check out your heavy vehicle course options and then give us a call.  We look forward to working with you.
